Hello everyone, I'm back again with another post. I'm gonna post this now since I won't have any other time today. I will upload/post the video tomorrow. :)
This is the card I made today.
Okay so this is the first card I made. I found the diamond chipboard piece in my stash from a Heidi Swapp Gold Foil PL Kit. I knew straight away I wanted to use it on a card. So I took that piece and then tried to find a good patterned paper to use. So I went to my stash of paper and chose a piece. I'm not sure where this particular piece is from, but I'm thinking it's from a studio calico kit.
Anyway, I adhered that straight to the card and cut around it. I then took some gold foil paper and cut the 'thanks' die from Mama Elephant - I love this die, super cute! I then took the 'many thanks' set also by Mama Elephant to stamp 'for everything' on a scrap piece of white neenah cardstock. I then cut it down to be a smaller strip.
I then glued down everything flat to the card. I would have popped the diamond up on foam adhesive, but it's already chipboard and bulkier so yeah and then this card was complete.
So for the next card, I was thinking how to replicate this card. Since you only get 1 diamond in the pack and also, I only had 1 piece of the cardstock I used before.. so anyway, I remember I had a diamond stamp in one of my stamp sets by Avery Elle called 'many thanks' also.
So I stamped that twice on some white cardstock in versamark ink and heat embossed it in gold. I then used copics to replicate the colours on the original diamond, the closest colours I had anyways.
I then was thinking of a way to do the background, I was tossing up between the 'falling stars' stencil by Simon Says Stamp and this bg stamp called 'tiny star' by Hero Arts and Basic Grey. I decided to use the background stamp instead and gold emboss it. I then repeated the same steps as before.
I don't like this one as much, the background is just too busy. But, it's okay and I'll definently use them up. I always need thank you cards. : )
So my third attempt was using the 'falling stars' stencil by Simon Says Stamp. I also used the Hero Arts ink in gold. I don't like this for stamping, but it turned out okay for this, I wanted something more dull anyways. I tried this first with inking with a finger dauber, but it leaked out the sides and was messy. So I then tried a mini ink blending tool, and that worked much better. I then repeated all the same steps as before also.
I still like my first card the best, I'm thinking I should have popped up the diamonds on foam adhesive, probably or maybe it's the colouring I didn't like as much, but anyway. They'll be good for quick cards to give out to people, easy to replicate and aren't too supply heavy. : )
Hope you enjoyed and sorry for the dodgy pictures. I don't know what was up with my camera or lighting or whatever, all my other photos today came out okay.
Thanks for stopping by today and there will be a video for sure tomorrow. : )
