Craftie Cafe - A Very Merry Christmas (Video)

Hi everyone, today I have another project for Craftie Cafe and this month we are doing the theme Christmas in July – which is great because you can get a head start on Christmas cards and also, I love making Christmas cards so I’m so happy I get to make some now.

To begin my card I first went ahead and stamped my images. I’m using the Special Delivery stamp set from Waffle Flower and also the Toasty Greetings stamp set from My Favorite Things. I stamped down the bag image, a snowman and penguin image and coloured them all in with Copic markers. I then used the coordinating dies for the Toasty Greetings images and then hand cut the bag image and placed them off to the side.

I wanted to make my card interactive, originally I thought the bag image was wide enough for a gift card, but it wasn’t so I changed it up for a money holder. I cut a strip of white cardstock, long enough and wide enough to slide up and down my bag image. Once my piece was cut I then took a little bit off each side to create a pull tab also. I then folded up my bill, adhered it to the piece with washi tape and make sure that it slid fine. It did so I went ahead and put around three of the sides two layers of foam tape.

Next up it was time to work on the background. I took a piece of watercolour cardstock and used some Spiced Marmalade and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide Inks to do some ink smooshing. I pressed some ink down onto some acetate, spritzed it with water and pressed it down onto the watercolour paper. I did this a couple times for both colours and then heat set with my heat tool to dry faster. I then ran the piece through my Big Shot in a We R Memory Keepers embossing folder to give some texture.

Now that my background and all my elements are ready. I first adhered down my bag, then my snowman and penguin to the right using some more foam tape. I then slid in my money slider piece and made sure it worked fine.

I then white heat embossed the ‘A Very Merry Christmas’ sentiment from Toasty Greetings onto some black cardstock and also adhered that to the right side of my card with foam tape. For a last finishing touch I added some Wink of Stella to my images and popped up the panel onto a white cardbase.

The video is linked below.

I hope you enjoyed my card for today, I love interactive cards and I hope you do too!

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy For You (Video)

Hello everyone. Today I have a card and video featuring some Your Next Stamp products. I guest designed for them back in March and was sent so many products, I was so grateful and so I filmed some extra videos to feature these products more and thought I'd post them now. These videos were created months ago when I first received the products, but I still wanted to share.

To begin my card I stamped the little Crocodile from So Happy For You with some black ink and coloured him in with Copic Markers. Once he was coloured, I used the coordinating dies to cut him out.

For my background of my card, I wanted to stamp directly on my card base and ink blend on it today. I first stamped the 'Happy' sentiment from the same stamp set using my MISTI on the card base and then stamped the 'for you' underneath. I used some thin washi tape around all four sides of my card base and then stamped the 'Happy' sentiment onto a full sticky post it note, cut it out with my knife and adhered it over the letters. I then took a ray stencil from Tim Holtz, adhered it down and ink blended over it with three yellow colours of Distress Ink. I pulled off the stencil and washi tape border to reveal the sun rays. I peeled off the masks and coloured in the individual letters with Copic Markers also, in rainbow order. I left out the green, since there wasn't enough room and also the green is one of the most prominent colours used in the card, so it still appears like a rainbow.

Once everything was coloured, I look a piece of watercolour cardstock from Tim Holtz and blended some blue Distress Inks onto it and then flicked it with water and heat dried it. I also used a Impression Obsession waves die to cut the top (although this seems to be discontinued now, so I linked to the Lawn Fawn ones that seem to match the most). I used fun foam behind the panel and adhered it onto my card base, leaving the same amount of white space on the sides and at the bottom.

To finish up my card I adhered down my crocodile with foam tape and adhered some clear gumdrops from Your Next stamp around the image.

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you enjoyed and I'll be back on Friday with another video.
